Cheryl Lindley has performed in many musical genres, with numerous ensembles, on a variety of instruments, including cello, bass, bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, flute, mandolin and voice for over four decades. She has taught music in a group and private settings for much of that time, primarily cello, piano, guitar, bass, chamber music and music theory.
Cheryl earned her BA/BM in cello performance from the University of Washington. She has served as Principal Cellist of the Maui Symphony, Saratoga Chamber Orchestra, Assistant Principal Cellist of the Everett Symphony and the Everett Philharmonic Orchestra, and as a member of other Puget Sound area orchestras, numerous chamber groups and as a substitute with the Yakima Symphony. Since returning to Maui in 2009, she occasionally travels to Washington to perform in concerts with some of these groups, including performing Beethoven’s Symphony #9 with the Everett Philharmonic on bass! She has also appeared as a cello soloist and chamber musician in Hawaii, Washington, and California.
Cheryl currently serves as Principal Cellist of the Maui Chamber Orchestra and Maui Pops Orchestra. She performs frequently throughout Maui as a freelance cellist for musical theater productions, and for weddings and other special occasions as a soloist and in various sized ensembles. Cheryl performed June 1, 2014, in recital with pianist, Lotus Dancer, as a part of the Soirees Musicales Series in Kula. She sings with the Maui Choral Arts Association and served as Music Director for Maui Academy of Performing Arts’ 2014 production of “Fiddler on the Roof”.
