Bassist Ross Gilliland, originally from Madison Wisconsin, has played professionally for 15 years with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Token Creek Chamber Music Festival, Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society, Madison Bach Musicians, and, much less legitimately, playing electric bass with his touring ska band. Ross holds undergraduate degrees in music and physics, and a master’s degree in public policy. He currently resides in Seattle, WA, where he performs with the North Corner Chamber Orchestra and serves as Principal Bass with Seattle Modern Orchestra, Northwest Symphony Orchestra, and the Saratoga Chamber Orchestra. Wearing his policy hat, he has served on the staff of President Obama’s Council on Environmental Quality, as Director of Evaluation and Analytics for Equal Opportunity Schools, a non-profit that works to open college pathways for underserved youth, and in 2015 was named a Strategic Data Fellow through Harvard University’s Center for Education Policy Research. Ross is lucky enough to have been performing with the Maui Chamber Orchestra since 2014.
